INFORMATION
The UPS building in Annacotty consists of a large warehouse and office space. Up to now the only bathroom facilities onsite consisted of two single toilets side by side, one for female, one for males. The client approached us with the need for a bathroom upgrade of existing bathrooms installing additional bathrooms on site to accommodate staff numbers.

The dividing wall between the existing bathrooms and warehouse space was solid concrete which required cutting by a specialist contractor and propping works. The floors in the warehouse were also solid concrete with an abundance of steel mesh.

CONCEPT
Space was limited within the existing office space so a stand alone building was required to be constructed within the warehouse space adjacent to the offices.

The client requested a new male toilet block incorporating a hallway and connection to the existing bathrooms, fully blocking up the existing entrance from the offices.

The existing bathroom was dated and dark – it required bright colours and all fixtures and fittings to be changed during the new bathroom upgrade. The brief was the same for the proposed new block – bright, clean and modern.

CHALLENGE
It was decided to run all ductwork outside the new constructed walls to make all piping easily accessible in the future in the event of blockages etc. and not to impact the integrity of the floor.

The existing bathroom consisted of two toilets with one sink and drier. There was a requirement for a less-abled toilet within this room. The existing door was not wide enough and the office/bathrooms were at a lower level to the warehouse floor.

The block wall required cutting in order to widen and the fitting of a new lintel. A small ramp was installed leading from the warehouse floor for ease of accessibility. The sink and associated pipework all ran along the wall where the new door open was formed so this was all redirected and connected elsewhere.

RESULT
The building went from having two single toilets within one space to having one Female, one Less-abled, four Male Toilets and four Urinals. All toilets were upgraded along with sinks and new driers.

Walls by urinals were fitted with Hygienic PVC wall cladding. New mirrors were fitted along all sinks. All walls were brightened up with white paint and new suspended white grid and ceiling tiles were fitted, incorporating new LED lights.

Staff on site are extremely happy with the outcome due to having more comfort, a complete divide from male to female and also a separation from the main office space.changed in the new Bathroom Upgrage
